Isaria project awarded sustainability certification
Munich, March 10, 2022. HOFMARK is a sustainable urban neighborhood built by Isaria Projektentwicklung, close to Munich’s Olympiapark. Apartments, offices, green spaces, a kindergarten, and various commercial uses are being created across an area of roughly 27,000 m2. The new five-story office building, located on Moosacher Straße (building plot 1) was successfully completed at the beginning of the year and has been certified with LEED Gold. The project participants assembled on March 10, 2022, for the official certificate presentation.
“In order to meet the growing demand for affordable housing and modern working environments without this being at the cost of our climate, new city neighborhoods have to be developed in an integrated way,” explains David Christmann, spokesman for Isaria’s management. Isaria was commissioned to develop the project by QUARTERBACK Immobilien AG for the Deutsche Wohnen group. “We consider the environment just as much as we do the interests of prospective users. The result is a neighborhood which is sustainable for the future, and we’re thrilled to be able to underscore this with the LEED Gold certification.”
LEED, a certificate developed by the US Green Building Council, is considered the most successful classification system in the world for sustainable buildings. Buildings are assessed using a scoring system based on individual criteria, with all lifecycle phases taken into account. Both the building’s efficiency and the construction project’s resource-friendly production are factors.
“The Munich construction branch of Köster GmbH provided a sophisticated disposal concept for the precise separation and full recycling of waste, always keeping the material cycle in mind,” says Christmann, expressing his gratitude for the good cooperation and praise for this responsible-minded disposal concept.
The new five-story office building on building plot 1 was the first construction project in the neighborhood to be completed. Modern, flexible offices and commercial spaces were built on an area of about 7,000 m², and will provide space for about 380 work stations. Two roof terraces offer additional open spaces and places where employees can take a break. A gym on the first floor will be opened at some point in the year. A rental unit on the second floor is being fitted out as a model office and shows how hybrid work can look in the future.
The entire city district, including a total of seven residential buildings and three commercial ones, is scheduled to be completed in mid 2023. The centerpiece is a well-designed public green space of over 2,000 m². A selection of restaurants and gyms will also help to create a high quality of life. Furthermore, there will be a kindergarten with a total of 136 spots. The aim is to get LEED Gold certification for building sites four and five, in addition to the first site.
